Dylan has a very long and heart warming story. He and his "older" twin sister were
born on August 20, 2007. Before Dylan was born, we were told that he would have
health problems. After his birth, Dylan was diagnosed with a rare condition known
as Alagille Syndrome. This syndrome causes heart, liver and kidney problems.
Unfortunately, Dylan was severely affected by this condition and in the fall of
2008, we were told he would need a kidney and liver transplant. Various fundraisers
were held in Dylan's honor for our family because of mounting medical bills.
Everyone who met Dylan was immediately drawn to him and his toothy grin. My husband
and I became known as "Dylan's mom and dad" rather than Dave and Vanessa. Dylan
never complained about his illness, or the constant itching that was part of his
liver disease. He even had a wide smile on June 4th while at the hospital. His
little body became so sick and his health began to deteriorate and affect his
respiratory system. He passed away peacefully in our arms on June 19th, my
father-in-law's 70th birthday. We miss him terribly, but are slightly comforted in
knowing he is no longer suffering.
